Apps in focus - W4-5 π±
Welcome the second edition of Apps in focus.
For the past 2 weeks, I've been busy working on my new Synology NAS, transferring photo folders as well as exporting photos out of Lightroom, all with the same purpose of making them available in the Synology Photos app. This provides me with 1 location where all my photos are available and helps me decrease subscription costs and my dependence of Apple's iCloud and other hosting services.
On to some findings and recommendations.
Ente photos. If you don't own a NAS but would like your files somewhere else stored, rather than with Apple or Google, especially as Google will start using your photos for your personal AI, have a look at Ente. It's end to end encrypted, offers on device AI for face recognition and 10GB of free storage.
Habitkit. I like habit trackers that offer a quick glance at your progress and that's just what Habitkit has to offer. Create a habit and see a heatmap of the completion ratio. I know, it's ok to do things dailyish, however, if you want to put visibility on something, Habitkit is great way to do it, especially with its widget support. You get a lot for free, but need a subscription to remove limitations.
Tot. I know there are a million note-taking apps, but this one caught my eye once Sylvia explained how she's using it. With Tot you get 7 dots that represent a notepad in which you can keep things, with Markdown formatting if you want to. It's really easy to use, quick to open and always available. It's all about convenience and that's exactly what Tot offers. And it sync Mac - iPhone - watch. It's for free on Mac, while you need to pay to use it on iPhone or Watch.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
