Share your ordinary adventures and weeknotes ✍️

Two days ago, Jedda shared The Beauty of the Everyday in which she outlines her love for photoblogs. Especially those focused on everyday life.

I share her view.

I follow quite a few as well. Not only to see what they photograph, but to learn from this as well. Last year, I was struggling with my photography. I wanted to shoot more, but didn't know what to shoot. A 30-day challenge helped, but still, I didn't see what to shoot, as it looked too common to me.

Getting the advice to look at it from someone else's perspective helped a lot.
What is common to me may not be for others.

And by thinking of it that way, and by looking at the shots of other people, I started to shoot and share more. I'm not there yet, and I sometimes need to remind myself to shoot and share, but the thought of the perfect shot seems to slowly disappear.

I started with the wrong mindset. For long, I frequented platforms as Flickr, 500px, ...
They showcase incredible photos, but if you look closely, many have gone through extensive editing, were taken with special gear, or required dedication (like location, timing,...). This is not something I have or want to go through.

Everyday life is beautiful. Ordinary things too.
It doesn't need to be extraordinary.

Just as the photos of everyday life, I like to read the simple stories of others. Or their weeknotes. They provide a glimpse of the author. About how they are human as well, navigating their own ups and downs, routines, and small joys.

I enjoy reading about the books you read, the shows and movies you watch, what you're listening to, or what you're playing. Or your adventures. These little glimpses can inspire me, give me new ideas, or add something interesting to my own list.

And although these stories might not feel important to you, they can bring joy to others, spark inspiration, or help someone going through something similar.

These notes don't have to be perfect.

That’s also why I keep writing weeknotes, even when I struggle with what to include. They’re not polished essays or groundbreaking ideas. They’re a mix of my experiences, what’s keeping me busy that particular week, and often also my struggles. It’s my way of capturing a snapshot of where I am.

So I’ll keep writing and sharing. And hope you do the same.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
