⏪ Week in rewind
🥱 Blue Monday really exists. It's considered the most depressing day of the year due to factors like cold weather, debt, and broken New Year's resolutions. Although my sons don't have debt or resolutions, they had a really hard time to get through the day. Waking up and getting them to school was very difficult, and the evening wasn't much better with a lot of conflicts. Luckily I was able to go out for a game of padel to get the eventful day behind me.
🚲 It's been a while but I went back to the office. And by bike. I always postpone going back to the office as I don't have my team there, however, the bike ride to and from, and the chats with colleagues really made me feel good. Especially those about ASS, getting tips and learning I'm not the only one on this journey.
🏫 As a way to unwind and make school easier for Bart, he stayed home on Thursday. I had to work so I could only sporadically spent time with him, but he managed pretty well on his own. I enjoyed him being around. And to get him out, I went for a run with him riding besides me. The feedback I got from him was that I need to run faster, as the bike ride was too easy for him.
⚒️ I sometimes think that school gives assignments to students just for the parents. Nelson had to do a presentation about provinces where besides slides, he could use items to explain everything. We learned that other parents were getting special items and food, so we spent Thursday evening making flags, decorations and even a pie, so Nelson wouldn't go empty-handed.
💺 The twins were away for part of the weekend, which gave us some time to breath and relax. Not that we can't do this when they are at home, but if someone is away, it creates a different dynamic at home making everything much easier and less stressful. Nelson is into movies, so on Friday and Saturday we had a cozy movie night with fitting drinks and snacks.
📸 I received a photo assignment to take photos at the birthday party of my niece. I take a lot of photos documenting trips and celebrations, but it must have been +15years since I shot a real party. I was nervous. Luckily it wasn't a tough or demanding audience, so after finding the right camera settings, I felt more at ease shooting those 30 teens enjoying themselves.
🖥️ I upgraded to a new NAS (Network Attached Storage) following my subscription checkup. Of course a new device also costs money, however, by doing so, I'll be able to run my own photo server eliminating the need for another portfolio or storage application as I need now. This project is keeping me busy as I have a lot of files and photos to transfer. But early results already prove it's worth it.
📱I wrote a separate post on Apps in focus as a tryout to give it its own stage instead of being into these weekly rewinds. Looking at the data it looks like people enjoy this format as well.
📺 Watched
🎞️ With Nelson we watch the animation movie Coco about death and family and I liked it. Signifying the importance of family and remembering deceased people (4/5).
🎞️ I finished Jurassic world rebirth, the last movie in the Jurassic Park saga. I feel it's a bit the same with each one. Island filled with dinosaurs, a need to go there/an experiment gone wrong, people trying to survive amongst the deadly creatures. But with the inclusion of mutated versions, I feel they've gone a bit too far. (2.5/5)
📚 Reading
- 🎧 I finished Beneath a scarlet sky by Mark Sullivan, a historical novel, based on true events of a young Italian who became a spy and driver of a German high-ranking officer during WW2. I enjoyed it very much, especially hearing of everything the main character went true (4.5/5). A movie is supposedly in the making, with Andrew Garfield, but no release date is known yet.
