Weekly rewind - W06 ⏪
The road through the trees, from my recent run
Week in rewind
I had a great, but brutal interval run on Wednesday, which I almost didn't start. It's not that I didn't want to do it, I actually like these types of runs that exhaust me, but I struggled with taking action. This again was a nice reminder for myself to push through and reap the benefits afterwards. It also made me reflect on taking action action immediately instead of waiting for the right opportunity. Should I run now when I can, or should I do it this evening when I have time? Because, with Marge working a lot of overtime, there were no opportunities in the evening.
I got access to the beta of Surf (from Flipboard) and tried out Tapestry. Both of them try to create a combined view of the open web with RSS feeds, Mastodon, Bluesky, ... I like what they are trying to achieve but the execution doesn't fit my needs and workflow. I'm not a Flipboard user, so Surf (currently still in beta) feels complicated to use and shows everything as a full-view page for each item, requiring a lot of scrolling and the loss of oversight. Tapestry does a better job at creating a feed of everything, including my Mastodon Home feed, but it doesn't allow me to interact with posts. So for that, I would still need to turn to Ivory. I'll await further updates, but for now, I remain with RSS to stay on top of everything (websites, YouTube, Flickr, Glass, podcasts,...) and use Ivory for my social interactions.
I ditched a few apps that I was using because of recommendations but in reality, made me duplicate my efforts. Hence my post about Steal, don't copy. You don't need to switch or fully copy what others do.
Sofa became my everything list tracker and I wrote in depth of how I use it, including how I write these Weekly rewinds.
I joined another photo challenge! Hiro from the omg.lol community came up with a 5 weeks challenge to improve photography through composition. Similar to the 100 pics challenge, no special gear is required, you only need to dedicate a bit of time each week to complete the assignment. In case, you're interested, have a look at the website of Hiro.
If you want to follow my progress in the 100 pics challenges, you can view it via my Snapshots, or this Reeder feed which also showcases the photos of others (tip: subscribe via RSS).
We had a great ending to the weekend with our regular Cava and fries meetup. One family organizes the gathering with drinks, while friends and their children come to visit for a chat and play, ending the day with real Belgian fries.

Apps in focus
Quiche browser. I love this minimal and fully customizable iOS browser. From colours to the menu bar and actions, you can tweak it how you want it to be. The only downside is the lack of some features, like open in new tab and the yearly subscription if you want dark mode.
Fiery Feeds. Until a few days ago, I didn't know about this RSS reader and now I have a subscription. It's an RSS reader for iOS & Mac, allowing you to tweak everything from colour scheme to feed behaviour. I still love Reeder Classic, but do turn to Fiery Feeds as it provides a better reading experience.
Fitness log
Few good rides to the office, but due to time constraints, not enough runs. Again that reminder to act immediately instead of waiting for the right time.
- Biking: 60km
- Running: 10km
