Weekly rewind - W32 ⏪
Swans in a dirty lake.
Feels a bit weird to have this one ready on Sunday evening. Guess #blaugust2025 does have positive effect on me.
⏪ Week in rewind
⚽ While it's only the beginning of August and still a month of vacaction for the boys, soccer practice already restarted?! So every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday it's again a rush to get food on the table and everyone ready to go. And with the boys going to a building camp last week it felt like back to normal where I and Marge had to make arrangements about who to pick up the boys and who would drop them at camp.
🏃♂️ With the start of my marathon training coming up in 1 week, I'm trying to get myself in the best shape as possible. While in the past weeks I did easy runs but didn't feel the push or motivation to go out and run, this week with one high-intensity training provided a drastic change in my mood and wellbeing the I needed. It resulted in a laser-guided focus to run according my training plan. Although I tried for my long run of yesterday. I planned to do 16k, but my legs weren't up for it. Halfway, I decided to to shorten the run, but still had to 3k with legs begging me to stop. Not a good run, but again one I reframe as mental training.
😊 Besides a mood and wellbeing click towards running, I had a similar feeling towars everything in general. Except for Monday, I had really good days at work, keeping my focus on what I needed to do, without diverting to any distractions. This overall mood shift also made me happier in general and resulted in a few nice social interaction, after taking more initiative.
✍️ I joined Blaugust, where I'll try to write dailyish. It's a big change and push for me, but I feel it's needed, as I've been neglecting this blog more than I wanted to. I never published this frequently, so let's see how it goes. I'm off on holiday this week, which complicates things even more, but I feel motivated and full of ideas.
⌨️ To support my writing challenge, I bought IA writer to have an enjoyable experience on my phone. All my writing is kept in Obsidian, but the fact it's so slow at startup (on mobile) doesn't invite me to do my writing there. I used to write with Ulysses, but as its yearly subscription is more expensive than the one-time purchase of IA Writer (seems it had a price drop recently), made it easy for me to decide. After a few days of using it, I'm enjoying the experience and have written a lot with it.
🔒 As my company blocks all traffic to .lol domains, I'm unable to use my social.lol Mastodon account. Perhaps it helps with daily distractions, but on the other hand blocks me from following up on people and challenges. To be able follow up and read blogposts with the #blaugust2025 hashtag, I'm doing some experiments with a regular Mastodon.social account (that I can use) and RSS. So many to follow.

- Focus Friend, by Hank Green. An iOS Focus app that blocks distracting apps and offers socks/scarfs as a reward allowing you to decorate the room of your Bean friend. A nice gimmick to push you to remain focused.
