⏪ Week in rewind
🤒 I'm currently home, sick again. While I did take it easy during last week, and only went for one run, my sickness troubles were not over and by the end of the week I even spent almost a full day in bed. This is the first time of the sickness struggles that I've been feeling this bad. I went to see my doctor again, and as I can't seem to shake this viral infection, he figured my body is exhausted due to marathon training and stress at home/work. Some good rest is needed he said and for that reason I'm home for a week, hoping this will get me cured and back on my feet.
🥶 The weather changed drastically. In a matter of only 2 weeks, the temperature dropped by about 15°C. Saturday was the first time this season that Nelson had a soccer game in sub 0°C temperatures and it was a struggle for the both of us. The cold got to our feet and I really felt sorry for him, trying to play while having his feet hurt. Luckily, a hot shower and chocolate quickly got us back on our feet.
🎂 Yesterday was the birthday party of Nelson, and I hated it. At least, the buildup to and beginning of it. Since Saturday, we were busy with preparations, but instead of helping us, the boys were overly annoying. Probably in anticipation of the party. But it was horrible. I might have had a lower tolerance due to sickness, but my wife was also annoyed and angry about their behaviour. I completely zoned out, and felt absent during the first part when all family members arrived. Luckily, by documenting everything with my X100VI camera and talking with everyone, I started to feel good again and enjoyed the rest of the party.
📓 I'm continuing my notebook experience as I wrote in Manual note-taking/journaling dilemma ✍️. I think it's important I can carry it everywhere to ensure I use it, so I bought an A6 size, and already completed the initial setup and notes following the Bullet Journal method. I'll see how it goes over time and might adapt, but for now it's a great framework to get started.
🙏 I'm grateful for all the comments and feedback I received, following my manual note-taking post. I haven't had the time to reply to everyone, but rest assured I will and appreciate your message(s).
📺 Watched
I didn't watch anything noteworthy last week. Most of the days I went to bed really early.
📚 Reading
Nothing I read or listened to.
📱 Apps in focus
- Penjo (Mac/iOS). While awaiting my notebook to arrive, I played around with my iPad and Pencil, testing a few apps I could use for hybrid note-taking (having a digital version, but writing manually). I stumbled on Penjo and while it's not as known as Notability or Goodnotes, I liked its calendar-based setup. Meaning every day you start a new note, linked to the calendar for easy retrieval. It offers iCloud syncing, password protected notebooks and a one-time lifetime unlock, instead of a monthly/yearly subscription.
