Weekly rewind - W52 ⏪
A week late, but still adding this for the sake of completion and continuity 💪
Fairytale re-enactment
⏪ Week in Rewind
🚀 I went with Nelson and others of the family to a science show for kids. It was very amusing where we learned about how to make things implode or a vacuum canon, the effect, and limitation of air pressure, how our mind and eyes deceive us, ...
🏃 I had a good week of running. Although it was cold and we had a busy schedule, I managed to squeeze in some runs, almost daily, according to the Norwegian singles method book. The focus is on running often, but at a lower intensity to make it manageable over the long run. And that's what I did, easing back into running regularly after a break from finishing my marathon. I might switch back to a Stryd program as I did for the marathon, but for now it works fine.
🏴☠️ We went on a fairytale walk with an immersive audio experience. Everyone got a headset and when arriving at designated locations you get to hear the actors re-enact a fairytale. A fun experience with the ability to opt-out whenever you wanted to by removing your headset.
🎄 We had some great Christmas celebrations with the family. It's a busy time, but I enjoy this time of us being together, talking, eating, and of course, acting as the family photographer, taking snapshots as memory for later.
🤧 I had a severe runny nose over the weekend, which forced me to take a day of rest on Saturday. I missed going to a VR exhibition of Pompeii, but luckily I was back ok on Sunday so we could go out for a game of bowling, which was great fun.
📼 As Nelson is old enough to read subtitles, we watched Home Alone 1 and 2. I'm not sure when I last saw them, but this brought back memories from when I was young... And Nelson, well he had a great laugh.
📺 Watched
📺 I managed to watch a few more episodes of Vikings, finishing season 4.
📺 We also started watching Sirens, giving some White Lotus vibes.
📚 Reading
📗 Norwegian Singles Method by James Copeland. Finished. This book describes the training alteration and observation the author went through to come to a manageable plan for "normal people". To improve in running, you're often advised to do a lot of threshold and max effort runs, however, this book is about managing load by running daily, however, for a limit time and at reduced efforts. Besides a training plan, the main epiphany I got from the book is that I'm running too fast during my recovery and long runs.
📗 Endure: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance by Alex Hutchinson. Another book I got on sports, this time about the mind and how it can influence your performance.
🎧 Beneath a scarlet sky by Mark Sullivan.
